A Hip, New Way to Do Produce!

So many people are on the “organics” band wagon.  Myself included.   With Paleo, Juicing, gluten-free, and vegetarian lifestyles on the rise, people are looking for companies that care about what we put in our bodies as much as we do. I happened upon the non-profit company Organics To You during a search for CSA’s last spring.  Of course they are organic, but unlike a CSA they source their fruits and veggies from many different local farms for more variety.  When necessary they may also procure produce from out of state.

With most CSA’s you pay for the whole season upfront and have to pick up your produce at the farm or a random location like a parking lot.  Since when was eating your veggies supposed to feel like you just bought a fake Rolex out of someone’s trunk?   The great thing about Organics To You is that they deliver to your front door at no extra charge!  I’ll say that one more time…  They deliver to your front door at no extra charge!   Let’s just let that sink in for a moment shall we?  The program is customizable so you can choose the size of your bin and if you want add-ons.   Can’t stand chard or brussels sprouts?  No problem!   Going on vacation?  EASY, just give them 2 days’ notice and they will cancel delivery for those dates.  They charge you as you go so no $400 price tag before you even get paw through a single stalk of celery.  My household is comprised of two adults and we tend to keep to a Paleo diet at home.  For us the “Small Bin” every other Thursday for $33 was perfect.  Sometimes we would do the “Latin” or “Italian” add-on for $14 as well.   They even have grass-fed meat and dairy options!  And guess what?  Organic fruits and veggies actually TASTE BETTER!  I thought I hated carrots until I tried the organic carrots in our Organics To You Bin.  Who knew!?!
They also tell you what to expect in the next weeks bin.

It's Scandal-icious!

I don't watch much tv. I don't see many movies. Some of the best (according to Castor) moments on the screen have gone unseen by me; but there are a couple of shows that I love and Scandal is one of them.
Olivia Pope and her gladiators are a wonder to behold. I'm not sure if it's Olivia's luscious wardrobe, (there are countless Pinterest boards devoted to it!), her tyrsts with the President or Jake Ballard's beautiful mix of good-gu-gone-bad that keeps me hooked, but, tonight is Season Threes finale, and I will be watching. It's sure to leave me gasping for breath and anxious for the Season Four to start.

Your Very Own Personal Shopper!

It can be a little overwhelming trying to keep up with fashion trends.  If you are like me, you want to stay current, have a budget, a few body issues (okay, more than a few), and don’t want to spend the day at the mall.  I have this fear of aging.  We have all purchased wrinkle creams.  Many of us have had Botox and a few have had surgery.  Searching for the proverbial “fountain of youth” can make us do some crazy and expensive things!  But did you know that the clothing you wear can make you appear older or more youthful?  Finding the right balance can be tough.  Putting pigtails in your hair might be fine for a 5 year old but would look ridiculous on most 50 year olds.  Conversely, wearing peg leg polyester pants and a matching polyester blouse is usually reserved for the 70 and over crowd.  So the goal is dressing appropriately and fashionably for your body type and age.  I have recently discovered an amazing website!  It’s called StitchFix.com and they pick out a wardrobe tailored to your style and body type complete with accessories!  They send you new, quality pieces every month and you only keep and pay for what you love.  Sometimes they send you things that may be out of your comfort zone but once you try them on, they may look great!

I highly recommend giving your wardrobe a boost by trying this service!  If your still not sold, watch this 3 minute Stitch Fix You Tube Video  to learn more or visit their website
